Global Warming: How We Can Help Stop It
Yesterday was National Polar Bear Day which is a day celebrated to learn more about the polar bear and conservation efforts where the polar bear is concerned. It is now more important than ever to be educated on polar bears due to the declining number of polar bears worldwide. Threatened everyday due to global warming, it is now believed that were are only 20,000 - 25,000 left living in the wild. Also, the polar ice cap, where they live, is strongly predicted to completely melt within the next 100 years.
Now this blog is not meant to discuss only polar bears, but to talk about what we as humans can do to help protect the world we, and the polar bears, live on.
Global warming is an extreme threat to us and our future generations. With already observable effects on the environment like glaciers shrinking, ice on rivers and lakes melting earlier, plant and animal ranges shifting, trees flowering sooner, and our coral reefs dying, the time to fix these issues is now.
One person can make a difference in saving our world and keeping it healthy and here are some ways as to how we can do it…
-
Replace regular incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs.
-
Drive less or carpool
-
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
-
Go solar
-
Buy energy-efficient appliances
-
Reduce waste
-
Use less hot water
-
Turn off the lights
-
Turn of electronic devices
-
Plant a tree
-
Save energy
-
Replace filters on air conditioner and furnace
-
Conserve water
-
Eat less meat
-
Eat naturally
-
Use cloth instead of paper towels and napkins
-
Take your lunch in tupperware, not brown bag
-
Spread awareness of global warming and its effects on us
All very simple things we can do in order to save our planet. Many scientists are predicting that within the next 30 years we will see drastic changes in the world we know now if we don’t start taking action. This is a significant topic that many people don’t take seriously and that is why we wrote this blog. We want to help educate anyone we can about the importance of making a change now, so we can make our futures better.
If you would like to know more about how you can help and what you can do, please watch this Ted Talk titled, “100 Solutions to Reverse Global Warming”. You will learn some new things and again realize how important it is what we save the world. You can also visit NASA's website to see proof of what is changing around the world.
The time to take action, is NOW!
