While doing mindless research online, I stumbled upon this article that discussed smart habits to get into in order to stay positive. So I read it, of course since I truly believe a positive mind is needed for a positive and happy life. But most importantly, I believe that being positive in a work environment can lead to not only the success of the business but the success and happiness for employees as well.

Since I learned so much from it and can relate a lot of it into the business I work for, I thought I would share it with you in hopes that you might take something from it to use either in your personal life or in your work life.

There are 10 things one should do so bare with me…

  1. Find the optimistic point of view in any negative situation.

    • Instead of focusing on the fact that it’s raining, remember that rain is what is needed for the flowers and trees to grow.

  2. Cultivate and live in a positive environment.

    • Obviously if you surround yourself with negative influences then you will never give yourself the support system you need to lift you up instead of dragging you down.

    • Think about who the 3 most negative people are in your life and the 3 most negative sources of information you spend time on… Then distance yourself from them.

  3. Go slowly.

    • Ever heard the phrase, “Stop and smell the roses.” Yeah, listen to it.

  4. Don’t make a mountain out of a molehill.

    • Take a step back, breathe, and refocus because 9 out of 10 times the problem you are freaking out about, is most likely not that big of a deal.

  5. Don’t let vague fears hold you back from doing what you want.

    • You are only on this earth for so long… take chances and don’t let your mind control you

    • Would you rather look back on life when you’re older and say, “What if?” or “Remember when…”

  6. Add value and positivity into someone else’s life.

    • Karma is real. What you give, you will get back.

  7. Exercise regularly and eat and sleep well.

    • DUH.

  8. Learn to take criticism in a healthy way.

    • Do you think that the happiest and richest people in the world never had a single person tell them they were being stupid or that they aren’t smart or that what they want to do is impossible? If so, think again!

  9. Start your day in a positive way.

    • Instead of moping around feeling down because you have to go to yet another day of work, you hope out of that bed, put on your favorite song, dance around, have a great breakfast, tell your friends and family you love them, and be thankful you get to live another day…. P.S. Some people aren’t that lucky!

  10. Mindfully move through your day.

    • Spend more time in the present moment. Don’t focus on the past, IT’S THE PAST! And if you focus too much on the future you get extremely let down if things don't go the exact way you pictured in your head.

Hopefully you were able to take something from this. Try to remember that your days will only be as good as you make them. And also, you only have one very short life to live, don’t waste your days being negative and feeling down. You want to be able to look back on your life and say you made every day the very best it could be.
